Rainbow was our tiny triplet ewe that has been our little sister’s spoiled bottle lamb all her life. She lived in the house and then in the yard, and was soon joined by some orphan chicks that the children rescued. There were two, but we lost one which made the other one lonely- but only for a couple days. She soon decided that a sheep was just as good of a friend!
She would ride around on Rainbow’s back and nestle down to sleep on her at night. When Rainbow would be running around crazy waiting for her bottle, the chick would be carefully balanced on her back, trying not to fall off! One night it was starting to rain when Rainbow was getting fed, and the chick was ready to get in their little house, but Rainbow was not. The chick (on Rainbows back) started peeping and pecking Rainbow, then hopped off and went to the door of their house and peeped some more. When Rainbow still wouldn’t come, the chick came back for her, but Rainbow was still eating and of course ignored the chick. The chick decided to just hide underneath Rainbow and wait till they could go together.
